    Choose either one of these tools if you are going to use a HD Texture pack, It will fix the common bugs caused by them, Water texture not showing, fire on blocks ect.

    MC Patcher - This program patches your minecraft.jar to add hd functionality, It can also be used to install plugins to your minecraft.jar, Pretty handy actually because you can add/remove plugins easier then replacing minecraft.jar if you want to remove a plugin!

    Optifine - This is the plugin i use optifine is installed directly into your minecraft.jar file and adds to the "video settings" interface in minecraft allowing you to change a number of different graphic settings.
